21 years ago today, Avant Music News started. Very slowly. Since then we have grown into a modest endeavor, publishing over 2000 reviews, almost 50 interviews (something that we really need to get back to), and 40,000 (!) articles on goings-on within the creative music communities around the world.
This anniversary brings a bit of snarky humor with it. Here in the U.S., we are of drinking age and can even get high in a handful of states. We can also visit casinos.
But more seriously, this has been my main “hobby” for the last two decades. Without this site, my musical journey would have been quite different. In fact, I am not sure where I would be at this point.
In any event, let me thank the writers, contributors, readers, and followers of the site, as well as the PR folks, label heads, and (of course) the musicians. I have no plans for major changes and hope to continue doing this for at least another 21 years.
