This workshop benefits students by addressing aspects of improvisation that the traditional approaches to improvisation, based on chord/scale relationship and the memorization of predetermined harmonic vocabulary, tend to omit. Students gain a deeper understanding of the entire process of improvisation, with an emphasis on group interaction, leading to a higher level of musical maturity. Participants are asked to consider new ways of thinking about improvisation, and are given suggestions on how to incorporate these ideas into their performances and practice routines.
