Based in Moscow, Russia, The Second Approach consists of a classically-trained composer and improvising pianist Andrei Razin, an improvising Gypsy singer Tatiana Komova and a jazz bass player Igor Ivanushkin. This is their first visit to the United States. Their newest album, “The Light” was recorded in Moscow, guest-starring the great Roswell Rudd on the trombone.

Brooklyn based string instrumentalist/composer Jessica Pavone is best known for her work performing with Anthony Braxton in his current Septet and Twelve+1tet and for her duo project with guitarist, Mary Halvorson. She improvises in bands led by William Parker, Taylor Ho Bynum, and Matana Roberts.

Jeremiah Cymerman is a composer and clarinetist based in Brooklyn, New York since 2002. Cymerman has worked with a broad range of contemporary artists including Otomo Yoshihide, John Zorn, Jandek, Ned Rothenberg, Peter Evans, Jessica Pavone, Toby Driver, Lawrence D. “Butch” Morris, Walter Thompson, Nate Wooley, Mary Halvorson, and Matthew Welch, among many others.

Billy Mintz has played and recorded with the Lee Konitz Nonet (1978), Perry Robinson, Badal Roy, Eddie Daniels Quartet, John Pattitucci, Andy Laverne, Gloria Gaynor, Charles Lloyd, and Alan Broadbent. As a soloist he has performed extensively on both coasts of the US as well as internationally.
