Our Zorn birthday celebration opens with music from the third and final installment of his Christian Mystics trilogy. The first two collections of music in this series took inspiration from Francis of Assisi and Julian of Norwich. Zorn wrote the entire project for this all-star acoustic guitar trio.

John Zorn’s project in “Radical Jewish Culture,” Masada has been creating thrilling music for over thirty years and has amassed a huge international audience. This dazzling new quartet is led by Zorn himself on saxophone with Julian Lage (electric guitar), Jorge Roeder (bass), and Kenny Wollesen (drums).

We are thrilled to present this set of fiendishly virtuosic works inspired by the late sketchbooks of Turner. Isabella Stewart Gardner collected an early Turner watercolor, and displayed it in the Yellow Room in the company of things musical.
