Kin of the Moon w/ Stephanie Wood

Kin of the Moon performs works inspired by the natural world: Kaley Lane Eaton’s ode to the fragility of the ecosystem on the Galapagos Islands and Heather Bentley’s song cycle about insects. They’re joined for an improvisation by gong artist Stephanie Wood.

Nonsequitur presents composer/clarinetist Angelique Poteat with an all-star ensemble in an evening of her compositions inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Praised by the New York Times as “engaging, relevant,” her music is rhythmically charged and colorfully picturesque.

Dennis Rea and Carol J Levin
Fri. Jan. 20, 8 PM; $5 – $15 donation at door

Guitarist Dennis Rea (Moraine) offers a rare solo set of original pieces, interpretations of Asian and other world music, improvisation, and select covers. Carol J Levin opens with a singular solo set for harp and percussion and improvised explorations of musical favorites, with guest(s).

Neal Kosaly-Meyer: Finnegans Wake

The ninth chapter (Part II, Chapter 1) of James Joyce’s last novel, performed by Neal Kosaly-Meyer from memory and with acute attention to musical detail, with liturgical/theatrical atmosphere, including carefully conceived set and sound design.
