Iconic and internationally renown poet Jerome Rothenberg and bassist Mark Dresser perform at Spruce Street Concerts. Rothenberg is author of 90 books of poetry & such anthologies as Technicians of the Sacred, & will read “In the Shadow of a Mad King” and “A Book of Infernos” to the backdrop of Mark Dresser’s bass playing.

SFSOUND members and friends perform Wendy Reid’S ambient bird – mosswood (2022). Avant-garde composer TOSHI ICHIYANAGI is remembered with performances of his graphic scores Sapporo (1962) and Music For Electric Metronomes (1968). Pianist HADLEY MCCARROLL performs Ichiyaagi’s Music for Piano No. 2 (1959) and In memory of John Cage (1993). Ron Heglin (low brass and voice) RIC LOUCHARD (piano) and Tim Perkis (electronics) perform trio improvisations.

Speak for Change: Mimi Tempestt // Mimi Tempestt is a daughter of California. Her works are aimed at disrupting stereotypical narratives and the iconography of black and queer people in media representations. Her debut album, Rough Diamond, was released in 2019. She graduated from Mills College with a ma in literature. Her debut collection of poems, The Monumental Misremeberings, is published with Co-Conspirator Press (2020). She is currently a Doctoral student in the Creative/Critical PhD in Literature at UC Santa Cruz.
