REDCAT Presents
Celebrating Anthony Braxton
Dec. 4, 2022

On Dec, 4, 2022, Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT), CalArts’ center for contemporary arts in downtown Los Angeles, presents a wide-ranging celebration of MacArthur Fellow and NEA Jazz Master Anthony Braxton.

Recognized as one of the most important musicians, educators, and creative thinkers of the past 50 years, Braxton has been widely celebrated for his revolutionary work, drawing from sources as disparate as John Coltrane, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and 12th-century mystic Hildegard von Bingen.

During this one-night-only celebration, a multi-generational collection of eminent musicians in and around Los Angeles will pay tribute to the remarkable artist and his contribution to the fields of improvisation and contemporary composition.

Featured performers include Los Angeles hip hop legend Myka 9, tenor saxophone titan Mark Turner, and a wide array of performers with long-standing ties to Braxton, dating back to the 1970s and 1980s, including Mark Dresser, David Rosenboom, and Vinny Golia.
