A quartet of internationally renowned improvisor/composers plays together in concert for the first time. The players are Chris Brown, piano and electronics; Ben Davis, cello; Danishta Rivero; and Marshall Trammell, drums. The musicians will employ a simple algorithm to play one all of the possible combinations of solos, duos, trios, and a quartet. In their group improvisations the focus is always on continuous listening and interdependence of the music created spontaneously by every player.

Sun 2/06 7:30 PM Temescal Arts Center [511 48th Street Oakland]
Doors That Only Open in Silence (open participation, non-hierarchical workshop in free improvisation)
The monthly series of improvisation research at Temescal Arts Center continues. Bring your instrument or come to listen. No advance notice needed — just show up. Small groups will be randomly assembled from submitted names immediately before each group plays. We try to keep transition time between groups at a minimum. Over by 10pm. Donations for the venue rental are encouraged.

Masks required! Vaccinated performers may unmask while performing. Unvaccinated performers must remain masked at all times.
