1. We are thrilled to announce that our new album, “Leaving California,” will be released on Cuneiform Records in 2021. This label has been a gold standard for new and adventurous genre-bending music for decades, and we couldn’t ask for a better affiliation.
2. Tomorrow, at 6pm Pacific/ 9pm Eastern, Damon Waitkus will be doing a live Zoom listening and chat with the virtuosic guitar/percussion duo The Living Earth Show, which is open to everyone. This coincides with the release of Damon’s piece for the duo, The North Pacific Garbage Patch, a sinuous, crashing journey through a math-metal oceanscape. Tune in tomorrow here:
3. Ventifacts is a microtonal songwriting duo comprised of Ben Spees (of The Mercury Tree) and Damon Waitkus (of Jack O’ The Clock). This bicoastal recording collaboration has been developing since late 2019, and will be releasing a full-length album in 2021. The duo make use of a wide array of instruments and several alternative tuning systems to create colorful and provocative songs that are at once mind-bending and accessible. Look for their first single early in the new year!
4. Finally, we are in the final week of our fundraiser for Vermont and Alameda County food banks. Since October, we have purchased several hundred meals for people in need. If you haven’t participated yet, now’s your chance: any purchase of either of our No Outlet volumes before 2021 will go entirely to food banks. For those of you who have already participated, thank you so much! Many people went over and above the asking price, and for that we are grateful. It’s a testament to the generosity and empathy of our listeners. Contribute/listen here:
