Newsbits: Jon Hassell / OME Festival / Dopolarians / New Braxton House / Stephen O’Malley

Jon Hassell’s Vernal Equinox is getting a reissue.

The OME New Music Festival starts today in Phoenix, AZ.

The new Dopolarians release gets a review.

The New Braxton House digital catalog will include two albums that had been unavailable for some time (originally released from Sound Aspect Records). Anthony Braxton with Robert Schumann String Quartet, recorded live in 1979. Composition No. 17 appears in two different configurations, which Anthony describes in his Composition Notes as “sixteen pages of multiple notation that can be prepared in any order or length for performance. The work is scored for the traditional string quartet and represents my first entry into this most dynamic context.” Also, Kol Nidre with Anthony Braxton and Andrew Voight recorded in 1988 which includes Composition Nos. 85 and 87.

Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley is releasing a live album.
