Novak | Crouch | Wellman
Thu. Nov. 14, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Three Los Angeles artists: Yann Novak’s Slowly Dismantling reflects on his formative experiences as a queer youth in middle America and explores these acoustic and social spaces as zones of liberation. Robert Crouch’s new work inspired by poet Ted Berrigan explores the tensions between collective listening and personal reflection. Ian Wellman performs segments from his latest offering, Bioaccumulation.

Odeya Nini + Blackwell/Mines Duo
Fri. Nov. 15, 8 PM; $5 – $20 at the door

Los Angeles experimental vocalist Odeya Nini is devoted to redefining vocal interpretation and song through an exploration of extended vocal techniques, and how they resonate with the physical body’s language and space. The duo of contrabassists Abbey Blackwell and Kelsey Mines have crossed paths many times in the jazz, improvised, and classical music scenes and are excited to play together as a duo.

Mosaic Art Ensemble
Sat. Nov. 16, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

The musicians, actors, and dancers of the Mosaic Art Ensemble seek to balance individ-uality and community in their collaborative art. Various ensembles simultaneously perform solos developed independently, then assembled into a cohesive whole. Unintended associations are inevitably made when these independent compositions are organized through a rehearsal process and molded into a single piece.

Thu. 11/21 – veteran bassist, composer, and improviser Pete Leinonen plays solo and in a quartet with Greg Campbell (drums), Jim Knodle (trumpet), and Wally Shoup (saxophone)

Fri. 11/22 – Kin of the Moon performs new and recent works by Neil Welch, Ewa Trębacz, and Leanna Keith & Em Piro
