Anthony Braxton’s Sonic Genome now streaming on YouTube

After nine months of preparation, on October 31, 2019, Anthony Braxton’s epic six-hour Sonic Genome performance at Berlin’s Gropius Bau museum opened this year’s Jazzfest Berlin. The event was livecast and is now streaming on YouTube.

Sonic Genome is one of Anthony’s largest-scale works, lasting six hours or more. For the Berlin event, it took nine months of preparation, 60 highly skilled musicians from around the world who rehearsed together for several days and “activated” the space with many Braxton works, and over one thousand audience members who became friendly experiencers for the evening. We hope you will take a look at the video. If you don’t have six hours, even the first ten minutes will show how magical it was. Anthony Braxton’s uncompromising vision and leadership allowed us to dream, reach for the stars, and achieve something spectacular, together.
