Sarah Davachi has created a new work for pipe organ, two french horns, and the soaring interior of Rockefeller Chapel. She visited Chicago last summer to work in the chapel, to begin composing the new piece, now titled la brume jaune. This is Lampo’s third project with Sarah, our second in Rockefeller, and our umpteenth with our friends at the Renaissance Society.
California artist Laura Steenberge has created a new performance for the constraints of our small 10 x 20 foot office. Similar to our past projects with Nate Wooley and Jeff Witscher, these will be offered for a very small number of people. We’ll open up RSVPs first to members in the coming weeks.
Roc Jimenez de Cisneros (half of Barcelona duo EVOL) will premiere a new audiovisual project for Lampo and the Graham Foundation … an explicit tribute to the legacy of early Chicago house music … wonky bass lines and drum patterns bent, flexed and contracted … a weird love letter to the tracks, producers and sounds that shaped dance music.
Italian composer Caterina Barbieri will make her Chicago debut … (on a Monday!) … with an epic new multichannel work for Lampo and the Chicago Architecture Biennial.
The great Catherine Lamb (viola/voice) and Rebecca Lane (microtonal flute/voice) will close out the Lampo season and 2019, performing new and recent works, as they make their Chicago debut.
