PAMPLEMOUSSE PRESENTS: CHANCE AND CIRCUMSTANCE, VOL. 3
Ensemble Pamplemousse and JACK arts curates and produces a three-day festival of experimental music and performance at JACK Arts, from September 19 – 21, 2019. The third iteration of an annual festival follows in the tradition of the Annual Avant-Garde Festival, which took place between 1963 and 1980, advancing the careers of hundreds of young musicians and artists while deeply expanding the repertoire of the disciplines featured. Chance and Circumstance seeks to bring together American collectives and sound/media artists working in the field of experimental arts, music, and music theater, with a strong focus on the community of New York City.

ALARM WILL SOUND & EARTHEATER: THE HUNGER | ECSTATIC MUSIC FESTIVAL
Donnacha Dennehy’s The Hunger concerns itself with the Great Irish Famine of 1845–52, which transformed Irish society irrevocably, resulting in the loss of approximately one million people to death and another million to emigration. The Hunger will be presented alongside Eartheater’s When Fire is Allowed to Finish by Queens-based artist Alexandra Drewchin (A.K.A. Eartheater), creating an evening of music centered around historical accounts of personal loss.
