Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Noel Kennon: Just Fog
Thu. Feb. 21, 8 PM; $5 – $15 donation at door

An evening of works investigating the natural relationships of overtones over long durational structures. Presented and written by Noel Kennon, joined by John Teske: region no.2 and unison (prelude/postlude) for viola & double bass + magenta/pasture : { catalogue ( harmonics one through four hundred and fifty six) } for sine tones & filtered white noise + Dreams of Uriel (just fog and burning lilacs) for viola & voice.

Kurdish Rhythm & Improvisation
Fri. Feb. 22, 8 PM; $5 – $15 donation at door

An evening of free improvisations based on Kurdish rhythms featuring percussion virtuoso Ahmad Yousefbeigi joined by Olympia’s Arrington de Dionyso and versatile Seattle treasure Amy Denio. Yousefbeigi is an inspired Kurdish Iranian percussionist whose versatility and love of cultural exchange has led to collaborations with many musicians, notably the ambient, improvisational project, YESOD.

Don Berman’s Ascension Northwest
Sat. Feb. 23, 8 PM; $5 – $20 donation at door

Don Berman and his 11-member Big Band Thing celebrate the their new CD Ascension Northwest, dedicated to the deep spirituality in John Coltrane’s music. Opening is CHA: harpist Carol J. Levin, violist Heather Bentley, poet/vocalist/dancer Amelia Love Clearheart/the Indigo. Each uses loops and effects in a synergistic, immediate performance ranging from tender to wild. Proceeds donated to King County Sexual Assault Resource Center.

Fri. 3/1 – Seattle Composers’ Salon returns with recent works by Blake DeGraw, Kaley Lane Eaton, Liam Hardison, Ha-Yang Kim, Lily Shabbabi, Neil Welch

Sat. 3/2 – Earshot Jazz presents Rosetta Trio with Stephan Crump (bass), Liberty Ellman (acoustic guitar), and Jamie Fox (electric guitar)
