Monday, Feb 11: Party Knüllers (Fred Lonberg-Holm, Ståle Liavik Solberg) & Jaimie Branch
Another great American-European avant-garde project. Party Knüllers! is a collaboration between outstanding cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm and Norwegian drummer Ståle Liavik Solberg. This project has been cited as the “intimate meeting of two restless and adventurous musicians highlighting their obsessive and playful need to explore and invent new sounds and new forms of musical communication.” For this performance, they will be joined by trumpeter Jamie Branch who, like Lonberg-Holm, is a noted composer and mainstay of Chicago’s creative music scene. Drummer Ståle Liavik Solberg continues Norway’s new tradition of intersecting with that scene, and he has also played with people like Joe McPhee, John Butcher and Lotte Anker.
