The December installment of the Thirdsdays creative music series features the unique Anna Homler (, joined by bassist Jeff Schwartz and multi-instrumentalist Charles Sharp in two sets of improvisation beginning at 8pm.

Thirdsday is the third Thursday of each month at the Industry Cafe & Jazz, 6039 Washington Blvd, in Culver City’s Arts District.

Since 1982, Anna Homler has recorded and toured internationally, singing in imaginary languages and drawing sounds from objects ranging from toys and greeting cards to game calls and crackle box. The 2016 CD & LP reissue of her “Breadwoman” cassette was listed as one of the year’s best albums by Pitchfork, the LA Times, and The Wire.

Jeff Schwartz co-hosts the Thirdsday series with Ellen Burr. He also books Soundwaves concerts at the Santa Monica Public Library ( and performs traditional and modern classical music, Arabic music, and many varieties of jazz and improvisation.

Charles Sharp teaches at Cal State Fullerton, co-hosts Trilogy on KXLU, and plays a wide assortment of instruments (mostly reeds) in numerous musical settings.
