Over the years BOAT BURNING has established itself as one of DC’s most exciting ensembles. Led by Andras Fekete, the “maximalist-minimalist” ensemble pushes the boundaries of live performance with its mass guitar orchestra concerts—last year’s performance at the 9:30 Club featured nearly 100 (!) guitarists. With its simplistic, mesmerizing composition, Boat Burning warps sound, playing a single musical phrase with so many different players and tones until it takes on a life of its own.

AARON LEITKO has been a fixture of the DC music scene for years. As one-half of the deep house duo Protect-U, Leitko and bandmate Mike Petillo have been at the forefront of the District’s deeply cool and innovative electronic music scene. But as a solo performer, Leitko takes a deep exploration into unknown sonic territories via modular synthesizers.
