Seattle Scene: August 30 – September 8, 2018

From Seattle’s Wayward Music Series:

Chapel Performance Space at Good Shepherd Center

4th Floor, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle 98103 (corner N 50th St. in Wallingford)

Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

End of Summer Sound Vespers
Thu. Aug. 30, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

French horn player Tom Varner is joined by seven brass players, four members of the Seattle Phonographers Union (field recordings), and a percussionist for the fourth concert in a series featuring different instrumental combinations. These concerts have been, frankly, magical — you might hear some gorgeous muted brass long tones meeting up with crackling ice, insects, or sounds of a totally unknown origin!

Rest & Digest
Fri. Aug. 31, 7 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

An evening of experimental music and poetry. Guests are invited to bring blankets and repose for the sets. No one turned away for lack of funds. Artists include Ashley Eriksson Project (Whidbey Island), MeriAnanda SoundBath (Gig Harbor), Nick Toombs (Whidbey Island), Dog Sister (Lauren Moore & Vida Rose), mmuumm (Brit Ruggirello).
