Seattle Scene: July 30 – August 11, 2018

From Seattle’s Wayward Music Series:

Chapel Performance Space at Good Shepherd Center

4th Floor, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle 98103 (corner N 50th St. in Wallingford)

Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Mon. July 30, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door
Scrape is a string orchestra with harp and guitar founded by James Knapp and Eyvind Kang, that functions somewhat like a jazz group. There are solo and ensemble improvisations and the compositions are unique to this group. There is no conductor and rehearsals involve a lot of discussion and exchange of ideas.

THU. 8/9 – Bounty of the Wayside (Nancy Clarke, Jeremy Eaton and Kyle Hanson) perform two sets of improvised music and song + snacks during intermission

FRI. 8/10 – From North India to the Northwest: Classical Hindustani and contemporary western music, with sitarist Pandit Debi Prasad Chatterjee + pianist Sheila Weidendorf

SAT. 8/11 – Gift Tapes/DRAFT presents Doug Theriault (live cut up guitar/electronics) and RM Francis (computer music) for an exciting evening of new electronic music
