Newsbits: Kate Gentile / Meredith Monk / Matana Roberts / Mr. Rogers and Experimental Music

English: Matana Roberts @ ATP Curated by The D...

Kate Gentile discusses her new release, Mannequins.

Meredith Monk has won the Gish prize, which given to one who has “pushed the boundaries of an art form, contributed to social change and paved the way for the next generation.”

Matana Roberts is profiled with a review of recent album, Coin Coin Chapter Three: River Run Thee.

And no one other than Mr. Rogers (a host of a popular children’s show running from the 1960’s-2000’s) introduced kids to experimental music in 1968 with a little help from Bruce Haack & Esther Nelson.
