Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Jonah Parzen-Johnson + Icasiano/Goldston
Thu. June 29, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Jonah Parzen-Johnson (Brooklyn) writes music for baritone sax and analog synthesizer. His carefully assembled synth breathes with his extended technique-driven sax, building independent melodic layers to support his sound without any looping or recorded samples. Seattle drummer Chris Icasiano (Bad Luck) and cellist Lori Goldston unite for duo improvisations.

Marguerite Brown
Fri. June 30, 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Seattle composer Marguerite Brown presents new works for guitars with the goal of crossing disciplinary lines and sparking new connections between the new music, dance, student, and professional communities. With guitarists Michael Nicolella and Satchel Henneman, choreographer Allison Burke, and dancers Sierra Hendrix, Khadijah Lindo, Fenja Abrams, and Maeve Haselton.

TYPONEXUS: Lubomyr Melnyk et al
Sat. July 1, 6-10 PM; $15 – $60 in advance

TYPONEXUS Globalist Series presents a FUSION OF ART + MUSIC + PERFORMANCE + IDEAS with Ukrainian-Canadian composer/pianist Lubomyr Melnyk, sound artist Garek Jon Druss, vocalists Roxana Walitzki and Sarah Fletcher, butoh dancer Kaoru Okumura, live video by Leo Mayberry, and a host of other performers and visual artists.

WED. 7/5 – Soprano Shelly Traverse, flutist Douglas DeVries, and pianist Yvonne Chen and several other colleagues present an evening of duos and chamber music by some of today’s most exciting young composers

THU. 7/6 – Earshot’s Jazz: the Second Century, artists TBA
