Classical Music in NYC This Week

MIVOS QUARTET at Miller Theater (June 13, 6 p.m.). This may be a pop-up concert, free and with drinks on tap, but this superb quartet is not holding back with the music. Glorious complexity reigns with the American premiere of George Lewis’s “Playing With Seeds,” Brian Ferneyhough’s String Quartet No. 2 and the world premiere of the string quartet version Cenk Ergun’s “Use.”

WET INK at St. Peter’s Church (June 12-13, 8 p.m.). The Festival of Adventurous Music for Large Ensemble occurs over two nights, hosting music by composers both widely heralded and too rarely heard. On Monday, hear works by Sam Pluta, Catherine Lamb, Tim Parkinson and Peter Ablinger; on Tuesday, Mikolaj Laskowski, Alex Mincek, Eric Wubbels and Kate Soper.
