TAN DUN: TERRACOTTA SYMPHONY AND HERO CONCERTO
To celebrate the exhibition Age of Empires: Chinese Art of the Qin and Han Dynasties (221 B.C.–A.D. 220), the Met commissioned a new work from composer Tan Dun—Terracotta Symphony, based on music from his opera, The First Emperor, featuring terra cotta drums sourced specifically for this piece. Also on the program is Hero Concerto for violin and orchestra, with music drawn from Tan Dun’s film score for Zhang Yimou’s Hero.

THE ARGUS STRING QUARTET | STRING THEORIES
For the closing night of The String Orchestra of Brooklyn’s String Theories Festival, the Argus String Quartet presents an evening of old and new works for string quartet. The Argus String Quartet is featured on The String Orchestra of Brooklyn’s inaugural album, AfterImage, to be released June 21, 2017.

RECENTLY ADDED | ATTACCA QUARTET
Recently Added is a 3 concert arc. It is an exploration of the complete works of living composers who have made significant additions to the string quartet repertoire. Recently Added is a follow-up to Attacca Quartet’s project called “the 68” where they played the complete string quartets of Haydn. This installment will feature the works of John Adams.
