Vijay Iyer: ‘Relation: A Performance Residency’ (through March 31) Mr. Iyer, a visionary pianist and composer, has settled in for a monthlong residency in the lobby gallery of the Met Breuer. This will be his final week, with highlights including a pair of ensembles featuring the bassist Matt Brewer and the drummer Marcus Gilmore (Sunday); Radically Unfinished, a piano duo with Craig Taborn (Tuesday); and Fieldwork, a collective trio with the saxophonist Steve Lehman and the drummer Tyshawn Sorey (Wednesday and Thursday). Separately, Mr. Iyer will perform two sold-out concerts, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, with the trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith, drawing from their new album, “A Cosmic Rhythm with Each Stroke.” 945 Madison Avenue, at 75th Street, Manhattan. For information and set times, visit metmuseum.org/vijaybreuer or call 212-570-3949. (Chinen)

Guillermo Klein y Los Guachos (through Sunday) The intensely thoughtful pianist-composer-bandleader Guillermo Klein always brings new information to his club engagements — especially with this state-of-the-art midsize band, featuring intuitive partners like the saxophonists Bill McHenry, Chris Cheek and Miguel Zenón. At 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, Manhattan, 212-576-2232, jazzstandard.net. (Chinen)

Ches Smith, Craig Taborn, Mat Maneri (Friday) On his new album, “The Bell,” Ches Smith subverts expectations at every turn, starting with the idea that a drummer’s album might prioritize drumming. It’s an interior, enveloping, enigmatic experience — and the same should be true of this concert, with Mr. Taborn on piano, Mr. Maneri on viola and Mr. Smith on drums, vibraphone and timpani. At 7 p.m., Rubin Museum of Art, 150 West 17th Street, Chelsea, 212-620-5000, rubinmuseum.org. (Chinen)

Tyshawn Sorey Trio (Friday and Saturday) Mr. Sorey, a powerfully inventive drummer who has applied most of his recent focus toward composition, presents the trio found on his most recent album, “Alloy.” Featuring the pianist Cory Smythe and the bassist Christopher Tordini, it’s a chamber unit as comfortable with new-music protocols as with any jazz dialect. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, Greenwich Village, 212-989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com. (Chinen)
