Ashley Fure’s Beautiful Noise in New York Reviewed

A few months ago, Ashley Fure, the focus of a Composer Portrait concert on Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Miller Theater, was experimenting with fluid sound. A speaker hung in the corner of a studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, that was crammed with equipment hoarded by Levy Lorenzo, the electronics wizard of the International Contemporary Ensemble. Taped to the speaker’s cone was a thin plastic tube, cut off at one end near the woofer’s rim and reaching down to a water pump at the other.
