NADIA SIROTA RESIDENCY, FEB. 1 – 5
Symphony Space is pleased to present violist and curator Nadia Sirota in a four-evening residency, February 1 – 5, 2016. In addition to assembling the programs, she performs in each, spotlighting her vital role in New York’s thriving indie-classical scene. A founding member of ACME, yMusic, and the Wordless Music Orchestra, Nadia has commissioned and premiered pieces by composers such as Marcos Balter, Caleb Burhans, Judd Greenstein, Missy Mazzoli, and Nico Muhly. In addition, she has collaborated with musicians across a wide range of genres, from Itzhak Perlman to The National. She is also an award-winning broadcaster, the host of Q2 Music’s ‘Meet the Composer’ podcast.

A suite of Sigurðsson’s music from the Icelandic documentary Dreamland, played live with video. Dreamland examines the environmental risks of building enormous dams to generate cheap hyrdro-electric energy.
