Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Inverted Space‘s ongoing Long Piece Fest performances feature a single piece that is 60 minutes or longer. This month’s selection: Antoine Beuger: jankélévitch sextets Featuring 2 electric guitars, electric violin, theremin, gestural control device and EWI (electronic wind instrument). Long-tone meditation. Electronic world. Sonic possibility.
Seattle Phonographers Union
Fri. Dec. 18; 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door
Engaging in collective improvisation using only unprocessed field recordings, the Seattle Phonographers Union explores the ways in which we recognize, differentiate, map and navigate our sonic environment. Tonight they’ll focus on a winter soundscape of small, quiet sounds coming from different sources spread around the space.
19 Crimes | Bad Luck | All Region Player Thu. Dec. 17; 7 PM; $7 at the door
Nineteen Crimes is percussionist Jen Gilleran’s latest manifestation of all the images and sounds that swirl in her head and in her garage, with Erica Carlson, set design; Joe Malcomb, modulator. Also: Bad Luck (Chris Icasiano & Neil Welch), and from NYC All Region Player (Rob Price, guitar; Ben Gallina, bass; Andy O’Neill, drums.
Sat. Dec. 19; 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door
A Gathering is a limited edition box of visual art, text, and music by Steve Peters, Renko Dempster, Jessika Kenney, Alan Lau, Mariko Marrs, Cristin Miller (Stella Haze), Shin Yu Pai, and Matt Shoemaker. Each contributed 56 items to put in the boxes, along with a CD. Tonight we assemble everything in the boxes and make them available, along with live music performances, readings, and improvised painting.
