Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Thu. Nov. 5; 7:30 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Action Figure – Seth Alexander (alto), Dave Abramson (drums), and Birch Pereira (bass) – plays originals inspired by Coleman, Threadgill, and Dolphy. Ex-Seattle drummer Matt Crane is joined by the analog synthesizer craftsmanship of Timm Mason (Master Musicians of Bukkake, Midday Veil) and Chloe Harris (Raica). WA is multi-instrumentalist Simon Henneman and drummer Gregg Keplinger.

Seattle Composers’ Salon
Fri. Nov. 6; 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

The Seattle Composers’ Salon features finished works, previews, and works in progress. Composers, performers, and audience members gather in a casual setting that allows for experimentation and discussion. An evening of music and discussion with Seattle composers: Beth Fleenor, Nadya Kadrevis, Neal Kosaly-Meyer, Clement Reid, Nicole Truesdell. Everyone is welcome!

Phil Minton & Torsten Mueller
Sat. Nov. 7; 8 PM; $5 – $15 online or at door

First-generation British free improviser Phil Minton’s vocal technique, seemingly impossible multiphonics, and irrepressible humor have confounded and delighted audiences around the world for many decades. Vancouver bassist Torsten Mueller is one of his instrument’s masters of extended techniques. Presented by Nonsequitur & Polestar with Earshot Jazz Festival.

Inverted Space: Premiers & Encores
Sat. Nov. 8; 7:30 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Inverted Space opens its 2015-2016 season with 4 world premieres by Seattle composers, taking their inspirations from the contemporary world into contemporary music. These works both exploit and mend gaps between genres, and the ideas of “high” and “low” art. Music by Luke Fitzpatrick, Kevin Baldwin, Jacob Sundstrom, Kaley Lane Eaton, Jacob TV, and Frederic Rzewski.
