Henry Grimes 80th Birthday Celebration, November 6th

In honor of Henry Grimes’s 80th birthday, there will be a great concert and celebration on Friday, November 6th, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Jan Hus Neighborhood Center, 351 East 74th St. in Manhattan (NYC), centrally located on the upper East Side.

Mr. Grimes will play his acoustic bass and violin throughout the evening, and he has invited some of his dearest bandmate friends to join him in mostly duo settings, with the entire aggregation improvising together at the end of the musical part of the evening. Tickets are $35 per person, including concert, delicious dinner, non-alcoholic drinks, and birthday cake; tickets are available only at the venue after 5 p.m. on the day of the event (no credit cards).

Musicians / dancers / writers confirmed to perform include Denardo Coleman, Connie Crothers, Andrew Cyrille, Melanie Dyer, Melvin Gibbs, Tyehimba Jess, Karma Mayet Johnson, Andrew Lamb, Gamiel Lyons, HPrizm (a / k / a High Priest from Antipop Consortium), Marc Ribot (early), Kojo Roney and his father Antoine Roney, Brandon Ross, Warren Smith, Master of Ceremonies Marc Medwin, more surprises to be announced, and the great Henry Grimes playing throughout!
