Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful all-ages setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences.

Scrape! is an unconducted string ensemble of fifteen bowed strings, harp, and electric guitar performing the works of Jim Knapp and others.Tonight’s performance features compositions by Sumi Tanooka, Jarrad Powell and Jim Knapp. Soloists include guitarist Gregg Belisle-Chi, violinist Julian Smedley, and bassist Chris Symer. They are joined by guest pianist Gus Carns.
Dialectical Imagination + Christian Pincock

Oakland duo Dialectical Imagination (pianist Eli Wallace & drummer Rob Pumpelly) generates ecstatic music sparked by the dialectical relation of compositional structure and spontaneous creative volition. Christian Pincock (trombone and electronics) has a firm background in jazz, integrating many styles and elements and focuses on narrative, gesture and detail.
Daniel Corral + noisepoetnobody
Fri. October 9; 8 PM; $5 – $15 at the door
LA-based Daniel Corral performs Diamond Pulses, combining spacey electronic poly- rhythms, intricate tuning systems, and noisy ambiance with constantly evolving minimalist grooves and microtonal tunings that recall Riley, Young, Partch, Cluster, and Tangerine Dream. Also: A set of analog modular synthesis by sonic improviser, instrument builder/destroyer, and wave distorter noisepoetnobody (CaseyJones).
