On September 27, 2015 California-based trio Grex and the Lost Civilizations experimental music project will perform at Arlington’s iconic Galaxy Hut (map: https://goo.gl/5k7KqN).
Grex is Karl A.D. Evangelsta-guitar, vox, M. Rei Scampvia Evangelista-keys, vox, Robert Lopez-drums. Grex brings its current blend of free jazz and art rock to the Galaxy Hut, touring in support of its upcoming album ELECTRIC GHOST PARADE. Expect fireworks both literal and figurative, handcrafted for fans of Hendrix, Deerhoof, and Ronald Shannon Jackson’s Decoding Society. Called “an otherworldly experience” and “completely original” (Tiny Mix Tapes) Grex was formed as a way to explore the meeting point between popular song and experimental jazz, fostering a new music that both encompasses and expands upon its influences.
The Lost Civilizations experimental music project is a collaboration between Mike Sebastian (tenor sax, saxello and baritone sax) and T. A. Zook (basscello). Although essentially a duo, when schedules permit it is joined by Jerry Busher (drums); Doug Kallmeyer (bass and electronics); Sam Lohman (drums); Patrick Whitehead (horns) and Emily Chimiak (violin). At its September 27 performance, it will be joined by Sam Lohman on drums.
$5 at the door; all proceeds go to the traveling musicians.
