Source: Acustronica.

Acustronica announces the release of Daniel Barbiero and Cristiano Bocci’s new album Nostos.

Nostos is a collection of eight electroacoustic works for double bass and electronics by double bassist Daniel Barbiero (Silver Spring, MD USA) and sound artist/electric bassist Cristiano Bocci (Follonica, Italy). Each piece is grounded in a solo double bass performance by Barbiero which Bocci then modified, dismantled and reassembled to bring out timbral nuances as well emerging harmonies, counterpoint and rhythms.

Cristián Alvear Performing Radu Malfatti / Bennett, Cooke & Henry

From Bristol UK’s Bang the Bore:

Café Kino, 108 Stoke’s Croft, Bristol, BS1 3RU
8pm, Wednesday 30th September 2015

Bang the Bore is proud to present Cristián Alvear’s première performance of Wandelweiser composer Radu Malfatti’s “shizuka ni furu ame” (2015, for solo guitar). This first concert of our Autumn Season doubles as the final date of Daniel Bennett, Seth Cooke and Clive Henry’s mini tour of the UK, their first together since Hunting Lodge disbanded almost ten years ago.

Cristián Alvear
Chilean musician dedicated to the performance, premiere and recording of avant-garde and experimental music. He serves as co-curator of Relincha Festival, venue exclusively devoted to experimental music, in Valdivia, Chile. Since the beginning of his career he has been constantly performing in the main auditoriums and concert halls of his country as well as international festivals and concert venues. Over recent years he has concentrated its efforts in performing educational concerts in rural areas of The Lakes region, located in southern Chile.

Daniel Bennett

Bristol based musician interested in the boundary between abstraction and crude materiality in electronic and computer music. Currently performing with computer, synth, prepared speaker and prepared stylus. Records solo as Skjølbrot (http://www.skjolbrot.org), plays in a duo with Stephen Cornford, and in the group Aigon DAAC with Dominic Lash and Stuart Chalmers. In the recent past he has written music for theatre and installation, played guitar in the studiously idiotic rock band Hunting Lodge and organised gigs, screenings and workshops, both for Bristol’s Arnolfini gallery and as part of Bang the Bore.

Seth Cooke
Seth Cooke is a sound recordist, drummer, improviser and process performer based in Bristol, UK. As a field recordist he deletes, displaces and distorts material, preferring failed representation, aberrant modelling and perturbed or transient environments. He frequently overlooks microphones and omits to record the loci in which he operates. His solo performances currently involve feedback and resonance. As a percussionist he plays traps and waste disposal sink. He sometimes enjoys the flexibility of improvisation and open composition.

Clive Henry
Clive Henry’s gauntlets are inscribed with encircled triangles and a trio of runes. Inside the triangle appears the Hebrew theonym for the Tetragrammaton. Additionally, there are rings of inscribed text around the outermost circles. Barely legible, the text on the right gauntlet was believed to read “Laufet, Brüder, eure Bahn, Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen” (sic) while the left gauntlet is reported to bear the legend “Froh, wie seine Sonnen fliegen Durch des Himmels prächt’gen Plan, Laufet, Brüder, eure Bahn, Freudig, wie ein Held” (quoque sic). Accounts of more recent performances suggest that the text on the right gauntlet is now identical to that of the left. It is unclear whether Henry deploys more than one pair or had the text altered in the years since the disbanding of Hunting Lodge and the retirement of his Little Creature moniker. Henry also runs the House of Violence Harsh Noise Wall distro and the CDr label Journal of the Belgae Folk Club.
