From The New York Times:
Go: Organic Orchestra (Sundays through Aug. 30) The percussionist and composer Adam Rudolph has an endlessly pliable outlet in the Go: Organic Orchestra, a (very) large ensemble trained to execute his ideas, and stocked with improvisers like the multireedist Ned Rothenberg and the cornetist Graham Haynes. The group appears every Sunday this month at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. At 7:30 p.m., 58 Seventh Avenue, at Lincoln Place, Park Slope, Brooklyn, 718-622-3300, bqcm.org. (Chinen)
John Hébert’s Game of Thrones Quartet (Saturday) Mr. Hébert is a bassist with a deeply centered sound, and the trusted anchor to an impressive array of artists. He presents a new group named after a bloodthirsty fantasy franchise, with several prominent (and by all available evidence, peaceable) collaborators: the trumpeter Ralph Alessi, the pianist David Virelles and the drummer Eric McPherson. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, Greenwich Village, 212-989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com. (Chinen)
Darius Jones Quartet featuring Emilie Lesbros (Thursday) The latest expeditionary album by the alto saxophonist and composer Darius Jones is “Le bébé de Brigitte (Lost in Translation),” a tribute of sorts to the avant-garde singer and actress Brigitte Fontaine. As on the album, Mr. Jones convenes an ensemble with Emilie Lesbros on vocals, Matt Mitchell on piano, Sean Conly on bass and Ches Smith on drums. At 8 and 10 p.m., Jazz Gallery, 1160 Broadway, fifth floor, at West 27th Street, Manhattan, 646-494-3625, jazzgallery.org. (Chinen)
Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom (Sunday) Ms. Miller, a drummer of propulsive adaptability, leads a scaled-back version of her dynamic Boom Tic Boom band, with Jenny Scheinman on violin, Carmen Staaf on piano, and Todd Sickafoose on bass. At 8:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, Greenwich Village, 212-989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com. (Chinen)
