On Friday, July 31st at 8pm at Old First Church in San Francisco, CA, cellist Hannah Addario-Berry premieres four new works by young composers commissioned in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s Sonata for Solo Cello. Hannah has created a program that showcases the 1915 Sonata alongside newly commissioned works by the dynamic young composers Lisa Renée Coons, Brent Miller, Eric KM Clark, and Alisa Rose.

Bodyscape by Luca Forcucci with Cheryl E. Leonard and Crystal Sepulveda
Bodyscape is a composition and a performance by Luca Forcucci exploring the body as a sonic landscape. Microphones and sensors collect and measure the data generated by a dancer’s touch, spatial perception, and biofeedback. This piece is a work in progress that will change during its three-day installation in the gallery at The Lab, where it is performed by Focucci alongside musician Cheryl Leonard and dancer Crystal Sepúlveda.

Dana Lyn & Kyle Sanna: A “Through the Looking Glass” Approach to Irish Music
Brooklyn-based fiddler/violinist Dana Lyn and guitarist Kyle Sanna bring their inventive arrangements and nuanced interpretations of traditional Irish music to the Center for New Music. Hailed as “ground-breaking” by noted folklorist and NEA Award-recipient Mick Moloney and “bursting with creativity” by renowned fiddler Kevin Burke, Lyn and Sanna connect the dots between their experience as composers and improvisers and their deep admiration for traditional music. This concert will celebrate the release of their second album, “The Great Arc”.
