Mini-tour of the Midwest with Tim Daisy
I’m really excited about this short but sweet little tour coming up with Tim. We have played together every summer for the past 9 or so years, and have a duo record called The Flower And The Bear. It’s sold out, but Tim and I each will be bringing a few of the remaining copies we have with us on tour to sell. No t-shirts available from us for the tour, but feel free to make your own.

Trio with Dave Rempis and Tim Daisy in Chicago
Last spring, I was on the same bill with Dave Rempis at Legion in Brooklyn, and we started talking about doing some playing in Chicago that summer. It had been maybe 5 or 6 years since we played together. We ended up putting together a trio with Tim Daisy at Elastic in July, and the chemistry was great. We all wanted to continue exploring this configuration, so this show at Constellation will be the follow-up.

Trio with Joe Morris and Brandon Lopez
Joe Morris and I have played together quite a lot, in a few different configurations, most recently as a duo. Here we are playing together at the end of 2014 at 65Fen in Brooklyn. Brandon and I started talking about doing some playing back in May, and he put this trio together with Joe.
August 2 – Joe Morris / Daniel Levin / Brandon Lopez @ 28 Locust Street, Brooklyn, NY
Duo with Mat Maneri
Mat and I have recently been working together a lot, between some gigs in NY, and a week-long European tour back in February. We have a duo cd coming out on Clean Feed this November. Making music with Mat is incredibly thrilling. Here is a link to some music off of the upcoming cd.
August 3 – Mat Maneri / Daniel Levin @ 65Fen, Brooklyn, NY
Duo with Jim Hobbs
I love playing with Jim. He is a stunningly powerful, soulful, and virtuosic alto player. I had the privilege of having Jim perform my first quartet tunes with me (alongside Nate McBride on bass and Mike Johnson on drums) for my graduate recital at NEC. Over the years, we have performed in a few configurations, but never strictly as a duo. This show is part of a larger event put together by David Peck.
August 4 – Jim Hobbs / Daniel Levin @ The Lilypad, Cambridge, MA
Trio with Tony Malaby and Mat Maneri
We performed for the first time as a trio at Rye in Williamsburg back in May. Tony has included me in a number of his projects, and we have done a bunch of informal sessions, but this was the first totally collaborative setting for us to work in, and it was really rewarding. The sound of these three fairly low instruments together is really rich, and the timbral combinations are pretty astounding.
August 9 – Tony Malaby / Mat Maneri / Daniel Levin @ Three’s Brewing, Brooklyn, NY
Daniel Levin Quartet CD Release Concert at Cornelia Street Cafe
I started this quartet in 2001, and our first release, “Don’t Go It Alone”, came out in 2003. This month, our seventh record, “Friction”, was just released on Clean Feed. Peter Margasak, in The Chicago Reader, calls the new record “dazzling”. Here is a clip of the band performing a live version of the first track on the new record, “Launcher”.
For this record release show, Brandon Lopez will be filling in for Torbjorn Zetterberg.
