Inverted Space, UW’s contemporary music ensemble, concludes its inaugural Long Piece Fest with Morton Feldman’s epic 75-minute For John Cage. Violinist Luke Fitzpatrick and pianist Brooks Tran perform this hypnotic work that blends Feldman’s propensity for expansive time and harmony with Cage’s silence. Substrata is Seattle’s annual international festival of ambient/electronic/experimental music curated by composer Rafael Anton Irisarri. This year’s lineup: Taylor Deupree, Rachel Grimes, Lubomyr Melnyk, Tara Jane O’Neil, Tiny Vipers, Arovane, Panabrite, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Paul Clipson, Mary Lattimore, Rauellson, Leo Mayberry.
