Vancouver International Jazz Festival presents Reed & Slide, my exciting new duo with trombonist extraordinaire Samuel Blaser. Sammy has taken over the European jazz scene by storm, performing all over the place with his bands, collaborating with a who’s who of the international music scene, including Gerry Hemingway, Pierre Favre, Marc Ducret, Benoît Delbecq, among many others. For our festival appearance, we will present new original works for clarinet and trombone, as well as compositions by Joëlle Léandre, Helmut Lachenman, Gérard Grisey, and Luciano Berio.Fourth Landscape meets Because She Hoped

Nanaimo Conservatory of Music
A meeting of great improvisors coming to Nanaimo. François Houle has worked extensively with Paris pianist Benoît Delbecq and Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser (FH 5+1). American percussionist extraordinaire Gerry Hemingway joined Delbecq and Blaser to form Fourth Landscape last year. The four meet to perform together for the first time.
