Every month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded presenters and artists offer ten concerts of adventurous music in an informal yet respectful setting: contemporary classical, free improvisation, the outer limits of jazz, electronic music, microtonal/new instruments, sound art, and other extraordinary sonic experiences. All ages are welcome. All shows 8 PM, $5 – $15 sliding scale at the door unless otherwise noted (check individual listings).
ZE BIB!, Greg Kelley, Shoup 3 + 1

Oakland duo ZE BIB! (Shanna Sordahl, cello/ electronics + Robert Lopez, percussion) have influences ranging between noise, free improvisation, art rock, heavy drone. Seattle is lucky to now be home to trumpeter Greg Kelley, late of Boston and nmperign fame. Wally Shoup enlists amazing young Seattle improvisers Neil Welch (tenor sax), Jacob Zimmerman (alto sax) and Carmen Rothwell (double bass).
Great Bliss + Bad Luck

Jason McGill’s Great Bliss pieces are solo meditations for intonation-deficient guitars, concentration, intermittently crackly speakers, field recordings, percussion things, trick saxophone, microphone, chance mystery, etc. Bad Luck is the 10-year duo of drummer Chris Icasiano and saxophonist Neil Welch. Their improvisations and compositions are constructed from the ground up.
Zero-G presents the DeJoie Project

Seattle native/woodwind virtuoso James DeJoie celebrates 25 years of writing, playing, and living music in Seaburg by presenting a number of his wide-ranging ensembles and projects: DeJoie 3 (w/ Maxxine Smith, flute + Alica DeJoie, violin), Dr.Jd. (w/ guitarist Dennis Rea), Quintet DeJoie (w/ Steve Kirk, Matt McCluskey, Walter White, Greg Campbell), and a collaboration with master songsmith Eric Apoe.

Substrata is Seattle’s annual festival of ambient/ electronic/experimental music curated by Rafael Anton Irisarri, presenting international artists in the intimate setting of the Chapel.
