Nowadays, when Norwegian free jazz saxophone colossus Frode Gjerstad performs in a trio, it’s typically with two fellow countrymen: bassist Jon Rune Strøm and drummer Paal Nilssen-Love. But when Gjerstad first started playing jazz, he didn’t have many people to play with.

Ze Couch Shows in New York

Ze Couch Series is an apartment series hosted in Brooklyn, NY, in three different apartments in Bushwick, Queens, Park Slope and Flatbush. The idea of these events is to hear different kinds of music in an intimate setting and to share this experience with people of various different backgrounds and nationalities. Guests bring friends and drinks. A suggested donation is requested and all the money goes to the musicians. For each event, we provide food.
