The Seattle Composers’ Salon features finished works, previews, and works in progress by regional artists. Composers, performers, and audience members gather in a casual setting that allows for experimentation and discussion. Everyone is welcome! Composers for this month include Paul Gillespie, Jessika Kenney, Jim Knapp, Angelique Poteat.

Rhys Tivey 4 + Sky Is a Suitcase
Sat., Sept. 6; 8:00 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Innovative NYC-based trumpeter, vocalist, and composer Rhys Tivey teams up with Seattle musicians Gregg Belisle-Chi (guitar), Chris Icasiano (drums), and Tim Carey (bass). The Sky is a Suitcase plays original free-form compositions and improvisations: Michael Gebhart (drums), Carmen Rothwell (bass), Levi Gillis (tenor sax), Raymond Larsen (trumpet).

With Hidden Noise is curated by Stephen Vitiello, and features his work along with Seattle composer Steve Peters and six other artists who use sound as a material in distinctive ways. The listening event will be followed by refreshments and conversation with Peters and Vitiello in the Henry’s sculpture court.
