From NYTimes.com:

Connie Crothers at the Stone (Tuesday through Aug. 24) Ms. Crothers, a restless but reflective pianist, has programmed next week at the Stone, enlisting a wide array of collaborators. Among the highlights are TransFormation, her collective with the vocalist Andrea Wolper and the bassist Ken Filiano (Tuesday at 8 p.m.); a trio set with Jemeel Moondoc on alto saxophone and Henry Grimes on bass (Wednesday at 8 p.m.); and a confab with Mr. Filiano, the saxophonist Louie Belogenis and the drummer Michael Wimberly (Thursday at 10 p.m.). At 8 and 10 p.m., Avenue C and Second Street, East Village, thestonenyc.com; $15 per set, $10 for students. (Chinen)

Dave Douglas Quintet (Tuesday through Aug. 23) The industrious trumpeter-composer Dave Douglas broke in a terrific new band last year, releasing two albums on his own Greenleaf label: “Be Still,” a contemplative recasting of Protestant hymns, and “Time Travel,” a more rambunctious postbop outing. The quintet — with Jon Irabagon on saxophones, Matt Mitchell on piano, Linda Oh on bass and Rudy Royston on drums — will most likely draw from both releases here. At 8:30 and 11 p.m., Birdland, 315 West 44th Street, Clinton, 212-581-3080, birdlandjazz.com; $40 cover, with a $10 minimum. (Chinen)

Adam Rudolph (Friday and Monday) Mr. Rudolph, a hand percussionist, composer and world-music hybridist, has recently focused most of his attention on the Go: Organic Orchestra, a visionary large ensemble performing at ShapeShifter Lab in Brooklyn on Monday. But he never retired his Moving Pictures ensemble, stocked with longtime partners like the cornetist Graham Haynes and the multireedist Ralph Jones, which appears on Friday at the Jazz Gallery in Manhattan. Friday at 9 and 11 p.m., the Jazz Gallery, 1160 Broadway, fifth floor, at West 27th Street, 646-494-3625, jazzgallery.org; $22, $10 for members. Monday at 8:15 and 9:30 p.m., ShapeShifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Place, Park Slope, Brooklyn, shapeshifterlab.com; $15. (Chinen)
