From Seattle’s Wayward Music Series:

Lawson + Park Details + Kolovos + 75 Dollar Bill
Wed., Aug. 6; 7:30; $5 – $15 at the door

Lawson is the large-ensemble project of Seattle-based saxophonist and composer Jacob Zimmerman, comprised exclusively of sustaining instruments (strings, winds, synthesizers), orchestrated to make the ensemble function as a massive instrument unto itself. They are joined by Park Details and Peter Kolovos (both from Los Angeles) and from Brooklyn the Mauritanian-tinged duo 75 Dollar Bill, featuring the great drummer Rick Brown (V-Effect, etc.)

Rene Barge & Gustavo Matamoros
Sat., Aug. 9; 8:00 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

Miami composers/media artists Rene Barge and Gustavo Matamoros perform an evening-length immersive work akin to their sonic explorations with David Dunn in the Frozen Music Ensemble. Their materials will consist of recorded sounds manufactured by the duo through manipulation of objects, processed and virgin field recordings made in Miami, and electronically generated sounds intended to highlight otherwise inaudible acoustical features of the performance space.

Jesse Olsen Bay + Megan O’Donoghue-WIlliams
Thu., Aug. 7; 8:00 PM; $5 – $15 at the door

San Francisco’s Jesse Olsen Bay celebrates the release of Makings, a song cycle based on unpublished writings by his grandmother, the legendary author Tillie Olsen. Playing various instruments and objects, he’s joined by Seattle percussionist Paul Kikuchi. Megan O’Donoghue-Williams returns from Indonesia, presenting work from her upcoming album, Peshawar, written while living in Central Java and working as a traditional singer for shadow puppet theater.
