Grex has worked with leaders in modern music, including Fred Frith, Roscoe Mitchell, Myra Melford, Zeena Parkins, Hafez Modirzadeh, and Tony Levin, and presented concerts at venues as diverse as The Great American Music Hall, the Switchboard Festival, and the United States of Asian America Festival. The band’s fun, surprising sound has drawn comparisons to English Prog Rock (The Cardiacs), free music (Ornette Coleman, Sonny Sharrock), and noise rock (Sonic Youth, Deerhoof).
