Henry Threadgill and Zooid at the Village Vanguard Reviewed

From NYTimes.com:

The last time Henry Threadgill brought a group to the Village Vanguard, around 24 years ago, I remember experiencing moments of ultra-clarity there, real highs of listening life, when you know that a genuinely original piece of music is slipping by faster than you’d like; but you are not fazed, because you are drinking it dry.

Fresh Sound Fall Schedule

From San Diego’s Fresh Sound:

Musicians from across the sonic spectrum, as well from around the globe, will be presenting unique solo performances and duo collaborations for Fresh Sound’s Fall Season.

Tim Hodgkinson has performed previously with Fresh Sound as part of the trio, Konk Pack, in 2001 and 2013, and Ramón Amezcua performed with Plankton Man from Nortec Collective in 2001 and it’s a pleasure to have them back with us as a brand new duo. Alex Cline has performed for Fresh Sound many times with his twin brother Nels and other ensembles. Neil Rolnick and Thollem McDonas are new discoveries for us. New configurations and new discoveries: perfect.
