The evening will begin with a presentation by composer and sound artist Brenda Hutchinson! She’ll be discussing some of her work in direct public engagement and presenting an interactive performance with the audience. After her talk we’ll have a Q&A, followed by a break. Heaven Down Here is a unique chamber opera project by Andrew Jamieson that brings together sounds of avant-garde and experimental improvisation with traditional songs of the black gospel tradition and the Pentecostal church. It is also a re-presentation of Jim Jones’ Peoples Temple and both the great hope and great abuse that was found there.
