Lost Civilizations in Arlington, Virginia on May 12

On Monday, May 12, the Lost Civilizations experimental music project (http://lost-civilizations.tumblr.com/; http://goo.gl/WfSs5) returns to Galaxy Hut, 2711 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201 (http://www.galaxyhut.com/). $5 admission at the door. 9 p.m. Information at 347-687-5243.

The Lost Civilizations experimental music project is a collaboration between Mike Sebastian (tenor sax, saxello, baritone sax and bass clarinet) and T. A. Zook (basscello and misc. instruments). Although essentially a duo, when schedules permit, it is joined by Jerry Busher (drums); Amanda Huron (percussion); Doug Kallmeyer (bass and electronics), Nate Scheible (percussion), Mark Pry and Emily Chimiak (violin).

At this performance, the Lost Civilizations experimental music project will be joined by Jerry Busher (Fugazi, Deathfix, Fidelity Jones, The Spinanes, French Toast, Allscars, Alfonso Velez and John Frusciante) on drums.

((S*5))/Evan J Dice (s5music.com) will open the evening. ((S*5))/Evan J Dice is a live electronica project by composer/performer Evan J Dice. ((S*5)) is an experimental combination of electric violin and non-laptop electronics that are manipulated live. The result is a array of borrowed genres like hip-hop, house, jazz, avant-garde and contemporary classical that are bound together by playful, improvisatory performances.

Hailing from Michigan by way of Zambia, Evan is a classically trained violinist, and an active composer and jazz musician for whom the DC area has been home base for the last 4 years. ((S*5)) has performed at house shows and music venues in Boston, NYC, and DC and most recently, Evan self-released an album of looped and effected solo violin, and a follow-up of remixes by a spectrum of artists; named Images vol. 1 and Images vol. 1a, respectively.
