Coelacanth in Brooklyn, September 11

Coming to Wednesday, September 11th, 9pm at Shapeshifter Lab, Brooklyn:

Coelacanth
Daniel Levin – cello
Russ Lossing – wurlitzer
Gerald Cleaver – drums

The coelacanths, which are related to lungfishes and tetrapods, were believed to have been extinct since the end of the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago. The discovery of a specimen off the east coast of South Africa in 1938 makes the coelacanth the best-known example of Lazarus taxon, an evolutionary line that seems to have disappeared from the fossil record, only to reappear much later.
