Lauren K. Newman, LKN is a multi-instrumentalist , primarily a drummer, one-woman band, 6-string pioneer, and recording artist w/ Crutial Blast, Greyday, and Phratry among others. She’s drummed for a wide and varying roster of artists including but not limited to: Bellini, Subarachnoid Space, Castanets and Jenny Hoyston. LKN’s a founding member and drummer for the spontaneous composition post rock band, Palo Verde. An active musician in the Portland music community since 2001 when she moved here from her hometown of Pensacola FL. Lauren sessions as a guitarist, drummer, bassist and producer. Also an audio engineer she freelances in studios and live venues throughout town. A passionate, talented, natural, adept, skillful and uniquely original drummer. she has inspired a whole new generation of young women and men alike to pick up the sticks and pound the skins. To be experienced live, be on the lookout for LKN in any of her many musical incarnations. LKN is Currently completing a solo album for autumn release on Bay Area Post-Consumer Records. Lisa Schoenberg

Lisa Schonberg is a musician, artist and natural historian. She started playing drums as a child in Staten Island, NY, moved out west in 2000 to pursue graduate studies on ants and conservation biology, and has since traveled extensively to carry out fieldwork and perform music. Much of her recent work integrates her interests through creative documentation of soundscapes, insects, and habitat. She currently performs in HITS, STLS, and solo, and composes for her percussion ensemble Secret Drum Band. Lisa is the author of The DIY Guide to Drums and Fieldguided, a series of books on insects and their habitats. She is a regular contributor to Tom Tom Magazine and is the magazine’s Northwest Correspondent. Her past bands include Explode into Colors and Kickball, and she has performed or otherwise collaborated with Nadia Buyse/DUBAIS, Thao With The Get Down Stay Down, Mirah, Tara Jane Oneil, Tuneyards, Neal Morgan, The Need, Thanksgiving, LKN, Cloud Eye Control, and Janet Pants, among others. She has performed at MOMA PS1, the Centre Pompidou, High Desert Test Sites, The Los Angeles Museum of Natural History, the TBA Festival (Portland), and Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival. Lisa currently resides in Portland, Oregon and teaches private drum lessons at Revival Drum Shop.
