From NYTimes.com:

Michaël Attias and Renku (Wednesday) Mr. Attias, a saxophonist, develops compositional fragments into compact expeditions in this working trio with the bassist John Hébert and the drummer Satoshi Takeishi. As on its most recent album, “Live in Coimbra” (Clean Feed), the group seems likely to balance terse form against spontaneous action during this one-nighter. At 8:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, Greenwich Village, (212) 989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com; $20 cover, which includes a drink. (Chinen)

Tim Berne: ‘More Snake Oil’ (Friday) Last year Tim Berne, the alto saxophonist and composer, released a potent album, “Snakeoil” (ECM), that typified his meticulous but volatile style. One of his two sets in this concert will feature new pieces for the excellent quartet from the album, joined by the violist Mat Maneri; the additions for the other set, which will also include new music, are Herb Robertson on trumpet, Erik Friedlander on cello, Trevor Dunn on bass and Ryan Ferreira on guitar. At 8 p.m., Roulette, 509 Atlantic Avenue, near Third Avenue, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, (917) 267-0363, roulette.org; $15, $10 for members and students. (Chinen)

Kris Davis’s ‘Capricorn Climber’ (Saturday) The pianist Kris Davis has a smart new album, “Capricorn Climber” (Clean Feed), that seeks out the unexpected corners within established musical relationships. Her partners, all adept with spontaneous texture, are the tenor saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, the violist Mat Maneri, the bassist John Hébert and the drummer Tom Rainey. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, Greenwich Village, (212) 989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com; $20 cover, which includes a drink. (Chinen)

Henry Threadgill’s Zooid (Friday and Saturday) Mr. Threadgill, a penetrating saxophonist, flutist and composer, has long been a sly maestro of unconventional timbres, bristling counterpoint and tough but slippery rhythms. He’s appearing at the Jazz Gallery with Zooid, his longtime working band, with Liberty Ellman on guitar, Jose Davila on tuba, Christopher Hoffman on cello and Elliot Kavee on drums. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Jazz Gallery at Salt Space, 1160 Broadway, fifth floor, at West 27th Street, (212) 242-1063, jazzgallery.org; $25 cover, $15 for members. (Chinen)
